Boston Recovering Warrior Employment Conference, Sponsored by PeopleScout, Focuses on Jobs for Veterans

October 13, 2014

Chicago, IL – October 13, 2014 – PeopleScout, the world’s largest recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) provider, will be the lead sponsor and among the 40-plus employers in attendance at the Boston Recovering Warrior Employment Conference, where wounded, injured and ill veterans and their caregivers will have the opportunity to interview for new career opportunities.

The conference, to be held Oct. 14-15 at the Back Bay Event Center in Boston, is hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes program and Wounded Warrior Project. This conference will mark Hiring Our Heroes’ 800th hiring event since the program’s inception in 2011.

The first day of the event will focus on interactive employment workshops and one-on-one discussions with human resources professionals. The second day will offer employers a chance to learn more about strengthening their veteran outreach and hiring practices. Nearly 40 wounded veterans have already been selected for 165 total interviews to occur during the conference. Registration remains open to all transitioning service members who wish to attend.

“We are pleased to be supported by an organization that has such a positive impact on this country’s employment climate,” said Marady Leary, Director of Education at Hiring Our Heroes. “PeopleScout’s consistent excellence in finding, hiring and retaining veterans serves as a valuable complement to Hiring Our Heroes’ core mission.”

Carl Vickers, Senior Military Recruiter and Wounded Warrior Project alumni will be at the conference representing PeopleScout, a TrueBlue company. He will interview candidates on behalf of PeopleScout as well as its clients and will also introduce candidates to PeopleScout’s Veteran Talent Exchange, a unique platform matching over 5,000 veterans to jobs with a variety of partnered employers.
“These individuals sacrificed a great deal to serve this country; it is a distinct honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to serve them in return,” said Patrick Beharelle, President and COO of TrueBlue Outsourcing Solutions.

The Boston Recovering Warrior Employment Conference will be the first of five Wounded Warrior job fairs sponsored by PeopleScout over the next year. PeopleScout is an established advocate for veterans, having placed more U.S. Military veterans in full-time employment than any other recruitment firm in the world. The company places about 17,600 veterans in jobs annually and in 2013, PeopleScout announced a partnership with Walmart to help reach 100,000 veteran hires in five years. With a team of more than 50 veterans and military spouses, PeopleScout is able focus on the specific needs of veteran candidates.

“Veteran advocacy is at the heart of PeopleScout’s fundamental initiatives,” said Taryn Owen, President of PeopleScout. “We are excited for this event, as well as future chances to a put veterans on a career path.”
