PeopleScout Managing Director of ANZ Featured in Shortlist Talent

Nicole Cook, managing director for PeopleScout in ANZ, and James Henness, head of business solutions and technology accounts in ANZ, were both interviewed for the recent article “Hiring Managers in Need of Talent Reality Check” in Shortlist Talent. An excerpt of the article is below. This excerpt has been reproduced with permission from shortlist.net.au. The full article appears here.

Hiring Managers in Need of Talent Reality Check

Volumes of discourse about the future of work and the need to think more broadly about skills matching is yet to have much impact on hiring managers, the local head of a global RPO provider says.

In many organisations hiring managers are still holding out for talent that meets set criteria and not understanding that the ideal candidates aren’t available at the rate of pay on offer, says PeopleScout ANZ managing director Nicole Cook.

The battle for recruiters is to highlight relatable skills, and “opening the minds of hiring managers to know the difference,” she told Shortlist.

Anecdotally, she says this issue extends to the upper tiers of the recruitment market, as even senior-level candidates struggle to gain traction despite peak demand for senior and executive positions.

“How can you hear the market is really hot for senior talent and yet you’ve got these really good people saying, ‘they’re telling me my skills don’t translate?'”

Introducing Talking Talent with PeopleScout, a New Podcast

PeopleScout is releasing a new podcast, Talking Talent with PeopleScout, an audio series that digs into issues related to talent acquisition and workforce management. The podcast features interviews with thought leaders who share insights drawn from years of experience in the industry.

The series will cover everything from the unique challenges sourcing, recruiting and retaining talent in the healthcare industry to how employers and organizations around the globe grapple with skills shortages and changing candidate expectations. Of course, we’ll also talk about the role technology plays – both disrupting traditional talent acquisition models and solving new challenges.

How HR Technology Can Combat Staffing Shortages in Healthcare

In the first episode, How HR Technology Can Combat Staffing Shortages in Healthcare, Marc Miller, healthcare industry HR technology consultant and thought leader, explains how the right mix of technology can help healthcare providers attract and retain the best talent. He also digs into some of the factors causing the current talent shortage and how healthcare organizations should find and implement a new technology solution.

Miller is the president of Marc S Miller Associates, HR technology solutions. He has 35 years of experience in the HR industry – and is a regular presenter at HR and HCM technology conferences. He’s also the author of “Heroic HR” and the recently released book “The Death of HR, Who Killed Harriet Rose Job?”

PeopleScout Featured as a Chatbot Expert by HRO Today

HRO Today quoted PeopleScout Global Leader of Innovation and Support, Allison Brigden, in its recent article, To Bot or Not To Bot? The article explores the use of chatbots throughout the recruiting process.

“Candidates prefer an experience that has the right mix of technology and real human interaction with a recruiter. While a chatbot can automate some of the hiring processes, recruiters need to continue to play a major role in engaging with candidates, especially through stages like the offer management process,” Brigden said to HRO Today.

PeopleScout’s proprietary talent technology, AffinixTM also uses chatbot technology to streamline the candidate engagement and sourcing process. Embedded within PeopleScout’s talent solutions, Affinix delivers speed and scalability while leveraging artificial intelligence, recruitment marketing, machine learning, predictive analytics and other emerging technologies with one-point ATS and VMS integration and single sign-on.

“People have grown more comfortable communicating with chatbots, virtual assistants, and other types of AI-enabled technology,” Bridgen said. “In fact, many people prefer talking to chatbots in certain situations. As these technologies become more popular, it also drives the increased use of chatbots in talent acquisition.”

Here’s an excerpt from the article:

“Chatbot technology is not new. In 2001, more than 30 million people were chatting with SmarterChild on AOL Instant Messenger, and now, chatbots are everywhere. Want to order pizza, see next week’s weather forecast, or get some personal shopping recommendations? There’s a bot for that.

Due to rapid advancement in machine learning and natural language processing, chatbots have not only captured the attention of consumer-facing brands but are also beginning to infiltrate the business sector. Although they have primarily been utilized in customer service, this technology’s capabilities have broadened beyond support and now offer many opportunities to assist the HR function.”
